Excerpts from a Pink Sheet
"As soon as I arrived Mr. F was moved to his chair in his beautiful sunroom so he could visit with me. He told me about his wonderful 90th birthday party the weekend before. There were 40 people there including "the love of his life" 84 yr old girlfriend. The party was videotaped and he promised to play it for me. He reported his pain level and appetite OK. We talked for a while and then Mr. F turned on swing and big band music. It was so soothing for both of us to hear that wonderful music enjoying the sunny room with the beautiful view. He said the music brought back all kinds of memories for him. I asked if he were a dancer in his day...he said no but he liked to listen. Mr. F dozed on and off while I read the newspaper. The silence was very comfortable for both of us. It felt like we were both just living in that moment When I got up to leave Mr. F grabbed my hand and said "please come back". We are both very fond of each other."

"Too often we underestimate the power of touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, and honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
