Excerpts from a Pink Sheet

"Mrs. R was in bed when I arrived today. ...She told me all about her bird, Pretty Bird, and... about living in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She was disoriented and thought we were in Maryland in her son's house. She thought that I worked for the phone company and she told me about her career as a switchboard operator and told me that no one needs switchboard operators anymore. She spoke of how she misses her home in Maryland but stated she would have to learn to like it here. Having some of her own furniture here seems to bring her some pleasure...She told me of the death of her son and grandchild, and spoke fondly of her granddaughter. She complained of chapped lips and an itchy scalp and she said she wishes she could have a barbeque sandwich. She was cheerful for the most part and reminded me often that she was 92 years old."

SOCRATES

March's Outstanding Volunteer

A $25 Gas card this month goes to volunteer Scott Payne. Scott volunteers at the Hospice Center every Saturday, has a home patient, accepts patient yard work requests, serves on our Board of Directors and supplies our office with chocolates that are wickedly enjoyed by all. Thank you Scott for walking through our doors just over a year ago.
