Shannon's Hope Camp for Children

Shannon's HopeShannon's Hope is a special weekend camp held twice a year at Camp St. Christopher on Seabrook Island. It is for grieving children from 6 to 15 years of age who live in the tri-county area. The children participate in fun, yet intense activities, and are encouraged to speak openly about issues of death and grief. They learn that such feelings as sadness, fear, anger and desperation are all normal aspects of the grieving process. Children develop friendships and support from within the group.

Facilitated by professional counselors and hospice trained buddies the children create friendships and support that allow them to identify and express their feelings in a safe, secure environment. Referrals can be made by parents, teachers, counselors, ministers or any concerned person. There is an application process and a
nominal fee is requested. Scholarships are available in
special situations.
